Avendra works with some of the best, most qualified service providers in the industry and by leveraging the purchasing power of our customers we are able to negotiate the lowest possible price. But the value doesn’t end there.
As part of our rigorous contracting process, we ensure all service providers are properly vetted, screened and certified. These steps and the resulting contracts help ensure optimal services are delivered, at the best value, and reduce internal overhead costs related to managing the supplier and the associated risk.
Avendra’s contracted service providers range from international to local in terms of service coverage, and the services they provide could not be more varied, but they also have a lot in common. Aggressive pricing, comprehensive solutions, experience, an eye toward innovation, all are common traits.
We recently reached out to ask our suppliers how they are responding to the latest trends in purchasing with innovative new solutions. Many of the replies we received centered on implementing eco-friendly solutions, including energy and water reduction strategies, as well as open source solutions and evolving technologies that are now available.
Here are a few of their responses:
Everyone knows LED technology has the ability to reduce energy usage and costs over time, which is why Facility Solutions Group (FSG) offers turn-key lighting retrofit solutions. In addition, their rebate team will help identify rebate opportunities that make your upgrading less costly.
HD Supply offers more than 2,000 environmentally preferable products through their ideallygreen initiative. For example, water savings can be found through the use of enhanced aerators, low flow faucets and showerheads, low GPF toilets, flush valves, and flappers.
KONE and Otis elevator maintenance providers both agree machine-roomless elevators have become popular because they allow architects more space when designing a building. KONE’s regenerative drive technology recycles energy for immediate reuse within a building and allows elevator energy consumption to be reduced by up to 20%.
As California continues into nearly a decade of severe drought conditions, Sacramento Laundry Company carefully manages water through filtration and recycling, which also allows them to limit price increases. In addition, they minimize discarded goods and salvage as much linen as possible. One method includes offering a recycling program that turns old, faded product into dye-treated rags for further use.
K-BRO’s large modern laundry facilities consume less than half the heat, water and energy of an in-house or small commercial laundry. This, combined with a companywide commitment to reducing their environmental impact has netted K-BRO the coveted “Clean Green Certification,” which recognizes companies in the laundry industry who demonstrate responsible leadership in sustainability and conservation to protect the environment.
LandCare addresses prolonged drought in certain markets with turf renovation projects that use native, adaptive and drought tolerant plants.
Leslie’s installs pool equipment, such as Variable Speed Pumps which automatically monitor and adjusts flow rates to reduce energy consumption by up to 90%.
Telgian brings transparency to fire and life safety systems across entire portfolios. Facility engineers can, with the click of a mouse, gain access to their most recent invoices for service, review or export the inventory of fire extinguishers, locate and print out a copy of an inspection for a local authority, all using Telgian’s customer web portal.
Cintas notes that customers are increasingly requesting expandable technologies, such as Fire Alarm Systems that can accommodate future requirements (e.g. carbon monoxide monitoring) that allow for service provider flexibility. Systems that are “open” and can be repaired by multiple service providers are often preferred. Avendra Director of Business Ownership Jonathan Lusk emphasizes, “Many fire alarm panels today are proprietary, meaning if you’ve got a Simplex panel, only Simplex can access the panel to do the work…no flexibility, no choice…so an open system is a good thing for customers to consider.”
Tricom Building Maintenance, a cleaning services provider to the hospitality industry, recently signed on with a UK based IT company that will improve workforce management. The software allows Tricom staff to digitally sign in when arriving at a client property, receive notifications, update schedules, complete HR documents, and sign out when leaving, all from their mobile phones. Each client site is geo-fenced, allowing Tricom to see when their team arrives on site and give a clear, real time picture of site operations.
Integrity Services’ staffing portfolio has doubled year over year for the past three years. They find that more and more major brands, management companies and ownership groups are looking at staffing as a cost effective way to solve many of their employee recruitment and retention issues and to mitigate some of the costs and risks associated with in-house employees.
