Held at The JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa in Minett, Canada, Avendra’s first annual golf tournament brought together hotel executives with local and regional suppliers. The two-day event featured a competitive golf tournament and provided Avendra customers with an opportunity to sample new food items, gain insight into market practices and learn about the latest trends and innovations in the industry.
“With Avendra, customers benefit from working with a company with years of hospitality expertise. We work closely with our clients to understand their strategic goals and create value for their businesses,” said Afsar Khan, Avendra’s Director of Customer Relations in Canada. “While we always host a big customer event in July, this year we wanted to go an extra step to support the leadership in the hotel industry by launching the first annual Avendra Golf Tournament. It was a wonderful opportunity for our customers to relax and enjoy the serene surroundings of Ontario while also learning about the latest supplier offerings.”
The golf tournament took place at The Rock – a course sculpted on the shores of Lake Rosseau and designed by professional golfer Sir Nicholas Alexander Faldo. Four-person teams were assigned, allowing a variety of different companies to golf together.
Attendees who did not participate in the tournament were able to embark on a lake cruise, looking out onto natural, forested scenery and cottages dating back to the 19th century.
The winners of the golf tournament included Don Cleary, President of Marriott Canada, Thomas Buckley, Managing Director of Strategic Accounts at Avendra, Shelly Anwyell, Vice President of Retail Services at Data Communications Management and Franck Arnold, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton in Toronto. Awards were given to the top three teams, as well as for the longest drive and the shot closest to the hole.
Cleary said, “It was great to spend such time with our suppliers and of course the general managers and colleagues from so many of Avendra’s customers.”
