Taking Care of the Environment with Smarter Landscapes

Avendra hosted an Earth Day Event in conjunction with supplier BrightView (formerly ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance, Inc. and The Brickman Group) on Friday, April 22 at the Avendra Headquarters in Rockville, MD.

Local Avendra clients and customers and Avendra associates were invited to come and learn about sustainable landscaping and environmentally responsible best practices from the BrightView team. Greener landscapes can be a smart investment – for making more sustainable choices for your landscape can have a positive impact on the environment, those who use or live on your property, your landscape crew, and your budget.  The BrightView staff handed out plants and educated attendees on BrightView’s comprehensive landscaping services including: water management, waste reduction services, organic fertilizer programs, and LEED Certification Support.

Avendra also hosted a variety of sustainability-related activities throughout the day.  “More and more, people are placing an increased value on working in a sustainable workplace,” said Hamzah Abu-Ragheb, Avendra’s Sustainability Manager. “Although Avendra’s primary focus is on the impact of sustainability within the supply chain, it’s important for us to also expand that effort internally and offer opportunities to inform, motivate, and engage associates on ways to reduce their carbon footprint and do more for the environment.”
